The Census Bureau has released the latest estimates from the American Community Survey for all cities in Illinois with a population of 60,000 or more with sufficient data to estimate the household income inequality. We have crunched the numbers and the rankings are in. See the 19 places in Illinois with the lowest household income inequality below, and the highest household income inequality places at the bottom of the list.

Income inequality is measured on a scale from 0 to 100 - though is usually in the range of 30-65 in the United States - using the Gini Coefficient. Lower values indicate that household income is more evenly distributed on a pre-tax basis. Other countries range from high inequality in countries like Brazil (50s) to high equality like Sweden (30s).

The Illinois household income inequality from the latest estimates is 48.2 and has risen 0.2% from 48.1.
